Dick grew up in Indiana and graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1950. After graduation, he attended a vocational training school where he learned sheet metal layouts, jig and fixture designs, and welding. This began a long career in metal fabrication. Dick worked in the Fort Wayne, IN, area until 1967 when he moved to Iowa and began working for Parker Industries in Jefferson as a production superintendent. In the 1970s he worked for Mid-States Steel in Boone as well as Scranton Manufacturing in Scranton. Dick then opened his own welding shop, Gordon’s Welding, specializing in metal fabrication and repair, until he retired.
On Dec. 10, 1966, Dick was united in marriage to Janet Manecke. They made Grand Junction their lifelong home. They were very proud of all their children.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, being a ham radio operator, walking his canine companion Daisy, dancing and spending time with his family.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Wanda Gordon; his wife Janet; his beloved friend Gloria Heaton, sons Daniel Gordon and Shawn Gordon, and grandchildren Crystal Gordon, Tim Bricker and Katie Jo Gordon.
